Though I had never met Fr. Thomas in person, his teachings on centering prayer as a method of prayer was a great turning point in my life and quite literally saved my sanity beginning in 2005. The Lord had led me on a path where I could no longer pray with words and had no desire for them; though I also experienced deep intimacy. I did not understand what was happening and at times would rest in the quiet of deep inner pray without words and at other times be deeply afraid that something was mightily wrong. Was I losing my mind? I found the answer at the local chapter of Contemplative Outreach, here in Port of Spain Trinidad. I believe that Fr. Thomas was a modern day Paul. A Paul proclaiming the Good News in a new way and at a time when I desperately needed to hear something that resonated and confirmed where God was leading. May the teachings of Fr. Thomas live on in us all and continue to bear ever more abundant and lasting fruit in, with, through and as the Body of Christ.
