Contemplative Lounge: The Grateful Heart and Centering Prayer
“If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is Thank You, that is enough.” This quote from the twelfth century mystic, Meister Eckhart, suggests that gratitude is a powerful spiritual value and practice. What does the Christian prayer of silence, known as Centering Prayer, have to do with healing wounds, cultivating a grateful heart, and sensing that we are meant to appreciate life’s gift of abundance?
This morning's “contemplative lounge” is an opportunity to join with others in informal conversation to explore this question and what it means to live abundantly while committing to grow in the contemplative values of silence, stillness, simplicity, and service. Whether you are a seasoned Centering Prayer practitioner, a beginner, one who struggles with meditation, or just curious, you are invited to reflect on thanksgiving and gratitude in a welcoming environment.
We will begin and end our time with communal Centering Prayer.
