Introduction to Lectio Divina: Learning to Listen with the Heart

5 p.m., Friday, March 22 to 11 a.m., Sunday, March 24, 2019

Lectio Divina, literally divine reading, is an ancient practice of praying the Scriptures.

Led by Tom Ward, this three-day retreat will focus on the building blocks of a developing and sustaining a contemplative life in the world. During Lectio Divina, the practitioner listens to the text of the Bible with the "ear of the heart" as if one is in conversation with God. Lectio Divina includes moments of reading (lectio), reflecting on (meditatio), responding to (oratio) and resting in (contemplatio) the Word of God with the aim of nourishing and deepening one's relationship with the Divine. Periods of silent Centering Prayer will be a part of the retreat.

No prior experience with Lectio Divina or Centering Prayer is required to attend this retreat.

Retreat, meals, and lodging: $465 (Anna House) or $365 (St. Mary's Hall).
