Centering Prayer Retreat
Centering Prayer & the Relationship Between Contemplation and Action
Begins 6 p.m. Friday with dinner, concludes 1 p.m. Sunday
The practice of Centering Prayer changes the way we think and perceive everything and everyone around us, thus changing the dynamic of all of our relationships. It opens us to be more directed by the Spirit in our daily actions and interactions and leads us to discover that the transformation of ourselves becomes the transformation of our world.
Join us for a weekend – with God, a praying community, and the natural beauty of the Mercy Center grounds – to deepen our consent to this transformation. Our retreat will include silence, several periods of Centering Prayer, conferences, sharing, liturgy, contemplative free time, reflection, rest, and opportunity for gentle yoga and body work.
Rev. Amber Sturgess is an Episcopal Priest, spiritual director, and a seeker on the contemplative path. She enjoys teaching contemplative practices that deepen our spiritual awareness. Amber currently serves as Priest in Charge at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Carmel.
Catherine Regan Ph.D. is a spiritual director, clinical psychologist, and adjunct program staff member at Mercy Center where she coordinates the Centering Prayer program. Her great interest is in the renewal of contemplative practices as a path of transformation - of ourselves and of our world.
