2001 Annual Conference Meeting

The Contemplative Outreach 2001 Annual Conference Meeting was held in the Dominican Republic from October 10 through October 15, 2001. Attendees included board members, advisory board members, coordinators, faculty members, contacts, facilitators, presenters and guests. This was the first time the annual meeting was held outside the United States. It was particularly appropriate for the Dominican Republic to be the site of this meeting because in 1986 the Dominican Republic was the first place outside the United States to form a Contemplative Outreach Chapter.

The theme of the meeting was "Toward a Global Transformation", with a special focus on the chapters outside the United States. Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler, President of Contemplative Outreach, reflected:

It was so wonderful to be together, to share our common desire to make the world a better place by making room for silence and peace. Our commitment to offer contemplative service was renewed as we joined our hands and hearts together during this time.
