Centering Prayer Weekend Retreat
Ignatius Jesuit Retreat House
Ignatius House is located on 20 heavily wooded acres overlooking the Chattahoochee River. Retreatants will discover a place where they can withdraw from the demands of daily life, rest, and become more fully aware of God's presence. The grounds and wilderness provide the perfect peaceful setting. Retreatants will find: walking trails along the river's edge; calming, soothing sounds of cascading waterfalls; stunning views; decks, gazebos, and benches for resting; indigenous trees, plants, and wildlife, intimate meditation chapel; Saint Ignatius Chapel; the perfect environment for prayer and reflection.
This weekend Centering Prayer retreat will focus on the contemplative attitudes as refelected upon in David Frennette's book: "The Path of Centering Prayer". There will be reflections on the attitudes followed by periods of Centering Prayer. The retreat is open to those that are new contemplative prayer as well as those with an established practice. Check in is from 3:00 to 5:00 Friday afternoon. There will be an optional video on the method of Centering Prayer (recommended for those new to the practice) at 4:00 PM. A reception and welcoming at 5:30 begins the retreat. Dinner then follows afterward. The retreat concludes with noon lunch on Sunday. (Sunday Mass is available at 11:00).
